It is a moment of “sigh” when you
realise that you are not being “escapist”. Being escapist means you tend to run
away from reality or a thing that bothers you or a situation or an emotion. You
avoid all this simply because you don’t want to get hurt or because you are not
ready to accept the things for they might turn out to be unpleasant or go exact
opposite to what you have expected.
Then what exactly is the moment
that you sighed for? That is called as “Refuge”. And yes, every single human on
this planet does that – everyone seek a refuge. So there is nothing new in that
and most importantly there is nothing to be ashamed of it or feel guilty about
it.
You seek refuge of a “lie” when
you don’t want to tell the “truth” because you know a truth will do more harm
than a lie can. You take a refuge of “silence” so that your mind doesn’t get
shitty of whatever fucks world offers. You seek refuge of those creepy "apps" on
your phone, the phone which you took out of your pocket in hope that you will get text from a person you expected will text you. Instead you keep fidgeting with
those apps. That’s not fidgeting; it is going to the refuge of those apps in a
hope of some comfort. You seek refuge of those "glares" because you don’t want to
show that you had a sleepless night since you were weeping all throughout it.
You turn to that "extra, sugary
tea or coffee" or go binge eating (comfort food to be honest), because something
is not going that great inside. And even these foods and beverages are nothing
but refuge. Those "six-strings" you play when nothing calm your soul as they do,
even that music is refuge. That "tight hug" of your friend when you are all
broken is nothing but a refuge.
You seek refuge of that "fake
laughter" because you think that is how you will overcome of that painful
heart-break. About heart-break….well, experience says, you will tend to get one
or for that matter many blows because you fall for “people”. Everything is
going fine and all-good and then shit happens – you start loving “People” or “humans”.
Chuck it!
Most of our sufferings come from
expectations. And expectations are outcome of trust, belief or affection
towards a person. But then again, technically, you are at fault. Because these are "your" expectations and it hurts; these hurt more than that slap on your face. So what is your
refuge this time? It is your “support system”. Support system could be your
family or closest friends of yours or that Almighty sitting in temples or any
other religious place. It could be anything.
I think we all need to be
cultured to take refuge of something someone really like – like art,
canvas-colours, papers-pens, books, pets, music, plants, nature etc. That is the
more viable option, I suppose, because it has relatively lesser risk of being
hurt back as in case of seeking refuge in “humans”. That is how you make "hurt-proof" humans.
Pains, hurts or any kind of
dangers/ threats would make you strong in longer run. Everything agreed. However,
to manage in between of that process you need some refuge. Most important of the
all this refuge is “Hope” – it helps reinforce belief and faith. Hold on to it.
And chill, it is a universal truth; we, being human, are by default “refugees”. So
sit back and breathe. This too shall pass!
Nice!
